Powercli Storage vMotion without disk rename

Hi,

I have a problem presented to me that I'd like to solve using a Powercli script.

We need to storage vmotion 400 + vms to a new storage solution. That alone is not a major problem.

Here is the criteria - The VMs must remain powered on (no outage time has been factored into the change).

The vCenter that we are actioning this task against has third party cloud software on top for deployment/management.

The cloud software names the vm disks differently to the vm name.

If we action a normal storage vmotion then the disk names will get changed.

This will break the cloud software (its database will be out of sync with vm config).

Any help is appreciated.

Hi theire,

yes that's main Bad Progress that vCenter DB is not in double way Sync with vDirector the whole Time.  don't sense that as good, as handling is rather unflexible.

Maybe this helps you.

vCloud Director sVmotion over Powercli

for resync maybe helping:

Have you tried setting the  provisioning.relocate.enableRename vCenter advanced setting to false? That should cause the vmdk file names to be left alone during a svMotion...
