vCenter HA across Datacentres (using vDS)

Hi,

I'm looking at setting up vCenter HA using NSX to virtually span vlans across datacentres, the architect wants the two vCenters to be in different datacenters and the witness to be in another. This I think I could achieve if I can create a vDS across datacentres, but not sure how to do this, I am aware this is not a recommended setup but have been tasked with it anyway.

Could someone please suggest ways of creating a dvSwitch that spans datacentres?, to use NSX to span a vlan. The switch will only have the three HA vCenters on it.

Thanks

Datacenter is the logical boundary of DVS, you cannot span it across DC - This is from vsphere perspective, you can still have clusters spanned across multiple physical DC plumped to a single VDS. That being said, for VCSA-HA , we should keep the design simple , i would ideally recommend to protect the VCSA nodes by placing them on different servers/Racks/Blades/Chassis/Rack in same DC with Affinity rules based with a network  latency < 10ms. I'm unsure if you have plans to Stretch VCSA network via NSX , that is the impression i got after reading your thread. That design is certainly not recommended as it creates cyclic dependency.

If youre using NSX then thats not an issue, your N-VDS can span wherever you like so long as the underlying network overlay is fully functional.
