I have trouble connection an external USB 3.0 hard drive. My machine is a Macbook Pro. My guest OS is Windows 7x64

I have been using VMWare Fusion 8 for a few months now. For the most part, Windows 7x64 works great with it. When I plug an external HD into the USB port, I get asked if I wanted to connect to the MacOS or Windows.

Mac never (ever) has a problem.

Under Windows, it sometimes works and sometimes not. What often happens: no drive letter appears, but: if I click on "Safely remove hardware and eject media", one of the item is see is: "Eject External USB 3.0". So, Windows is at least partly aware of the drive

I've never seen this on a machine natively running Windows, so I strongly suspect it to be some interaction between Fusion and the Windows 7 guest OS. If I knew how to go about it, perhaps I could manually assign a drive letter.

Any help on this would be highly appreciated

cheers,

RustysDad
