It looks like there is an option on VMWare Workstation to encrypt a virtual machine. Does this functionality not exist on VMWare Fusion?
I have a VM that I plan to run on a regular basis between VMWare Workstation and Fusion. I would like to have the VM encrypted if possible but have questions if this will remove my ability to run this particular VM under Fusion. If the answer is no, does anyone know if encryption functionality is planned for Fusion? Thanks.

Not currently, and VMware policy is to not comment on unannounced features/products/timelines/etc. What's your use case?
Use case is that I would like to have my VM encrypted while using VMWare Fusion. Also vmware still consumes a lot of cpu (on a recent macbook 2.53ghz)
Thread moved to Fusion forum.
I know it's not the same, but...
You could use TrueCrypt to encrypt the drive the VM is stored on, since TC works under all 3 major OS's. Then only users who know the TC volume key could see the VM's files and run the VM.
That's essentially my solution. I store the virtual machine on an encrypted disk image (standard Mac .dmg) and have a shell script to mount/unmount it when I run Fusion. It'd be nice if Fusion had this built-in, though.
My 2 cents.... Since there's many workarounds, most of which are little or no cost, I'd put this near the bottom of requested features. Performance improvements are far more important than this.
