vCenter Server 5 and ESXi 5

Good evening.

I recently installed ESXi 5 and wanted to use vCenter Server 5 to manage it. When I try to add the ESXi host to the server, it tells me that it's not supported. Namely it tells me that ESX and ESXi servers are not supported using vCenter Server 5. Is this true?

Welcome to the Community - First off under vSphere 6 ESX no longer exists - there is only ESXi - so are you trying to add a vSphere 4 ESX host to the vCenter 5 environment?

What license are you using? If the ESXi host is using the Free license you will not be able to manage it with vCenter
