Ping Capability from vCenter Adapter

The instructions from the website above include steps for an older version of Aria Ops. We are using Ops from VMware Cloud.

I tried navigating to various objects in the Environment > Inventory section, but there isn't an option to edit all objects and enable ping.

The first half of the website URL I provided uses the steps you gave me. However in the second half of the webpage it mentions using ping directly from the vCenter adapter. Can you review the link I sent and see if there is a way to configure it that way? The benefit to this is that you can see ping info directly on the VM object:

Regarding the second part of the blog post you attached, could you please share here a screenshot of what options you see when you select an object on the Inventory tab?

Also, if you have the pencil button, please also include a screenshot from the options inside it.

I think I found the location:

Object Types > Virtual Machine > Select All > Pencil icon > Enable Ping monitoring

Is there a better way to do this? This doesn't automatically enable ping for new VMs that are created. Maybe there is a way to select the vCenter adapter? I didn't see an option for this.

I do not have that version unfortunately but I believe you could create a Custom Group or enable it to a higher object such as Datacenter, it would be worth to check.

There are some differences between Aria Operations on-prem (the URL you shared) and Aria Operations Cloud (what you are using).

I see you've found how to enable ping per VM. This option is a bit more user friendly with the on-prem version.

It doesn't look like there is an option to enable ping on anything except the Virtual Machines.

Also one item of note - the Ping Adapter only creates a dashboard for ping statistics, and it doesn't add metrics the same way that enabling ping does through the VM objects:

For this reason I've decided to just enable ping for each VM object, and then add this enablement as a step for new VM builds.
