Monitor vCNS?

I was told it might be possible to monitor vCNS with operations manager but I can't find any information on it.  Does anyone know if this is possible?

Hi

what do you mean by monitor? the vCNS Manager appliance and webpage should give you all the information you will require for the vCNS service.

The vCNS manager page is more of a manual process to check the services.  I am talking about alerting and more proactive monitoring unless I'm mistaken vCNS doesn't seem have a mechanism to report problems with us having to go find them by poking through logs and the interface.

Same question from here. A vCNS edge or edge gateway is a VM consuming resources. It should be possible to get alerts and all vCO stuff as for any other VM deployed within a pvDC resource cluster.

Any contribution from VMware gurus?

Thanks in advance

Yes, vCNS edge VMs are monitored but there's not specific vCNS awareness - it would be monitored like any other VM, with the exception of guest metrics due to lack of VMtools on the VM.

It is conceivable that you could combine LogInsight with vCNS to provide event forwarding to vC Ops for additional level of detail.
