Migrate data from old Operations Managert to new installation.

Hello,

We have installed a new vRealize Operations Manager 7.0, and want to migrate all data
from the old installation (version 6.7), to the new installation. Is that possible,
and if yes, how?

You cannot do that Smiley Sad

I do not know why you did not just upgrade from 6.7 to 7.0, but that is the ONLY way to keep your data.

I assume you have your reasons, so the next best thing is to running vRops 6.7 and 7.0 side by side, both collecting data from the same vCenters. When you have enough data in your new vRops simple shutdown the old one.

That your best option, when not doing a direct upgrade.

Are you talking about the collected data or customized data like Policies, Dashboards, Views, Super Metrics, Reports etc.?

A lot of customized data can be exported and imported into the new version. Keep in mind that some items could not work anymore because of changed/removed items in the new version, for example you may need to replace metrics in a view which are removed in the newer version. You need to find a similar/replacement metric in the new version for your view.

If you want collected data you, I am not sure but i don't think there is an option to export/import collected data from an earlier version, unless you do an upgrade.

Our 6.7 version, has a lot of strange errors, so we whant to make a fresh install, and import the data.

But it is not possible;)
