How to limit SCOM licenses in vCops?

The method to limit vCops licenses is to limit the access the vCops collector account has to vCenter objects.

What is the method used to limit SCOM licenses.   Would like to buy 25 licenses for SCOM to demonstrate the benefits of application perf data in custom dashboards.

Thanks,

Hi Matt.

Dont keep me to this, but I understand the SCOM Adaptor is a fix price. Thus it does nto keep tract of the data it collects.

I think....will see if I can find out.

There is a 25 Pack Lic that you can buy. SKU is VC-05-ADP25-C

Thus if you have 95 OSI (Operating System Instanaces) you need to get 4 of these Packs.

My question is,  if I am licensed for 25 OSI's  and SCOM adapters pulls in 100 OSI,  how do I configure vCops to say only license these 25 OSIs?  Otherwise I will be in violation with the licenses.

Thanks,

-Matt

Matt, I believe the answer would be to modify the collection queries to only pull metrics for the systems you want covered under your licensed entitlement.  You can find more detail about the SQL query configuration in the SCOM adapter guide.

Will this cover both physical and virtual servers?

If physical server data is ingested from SCOM,  does it get a unique instance object just like objects that are ingested from vSphere?

Both physical and virtual OSIs ingested from SCOM will be seen as unique resources, even though the VM is created through the vCenter adapter.

So the SCOM adatper can consume any SCOM object whether  physical or virtual?

Also,  can anyone speak to why SCOM licenses are $400 per OSI?
