Hi all,
I'm running vRops 8.2 in VCF4.2.1 and I'm trying to get vRops to show me some hidden Metrics. I want to get some info regarding the Guest OS file system. Here's what I have done: I edit my 2 policies under Virtual Machine and selected "Guest File System" and I then enabled "Guest File System Free (GB) and Total Guest File System Free (GB)" and then I saved my changes. I found a Test VM that I have created and verified that the VM has applied the correct policy. If I search for my VM and look under the "Metrics" tab there is no section labeled "Guest File System" and the VM is running Windows2016 and VMware tools is running as well. I just can't figure out why the section with "Guest File System" is not showing at all and any ideas would be highly appreciated.
Regards, Kim Pedersen.
Hi,
Did you also expand C:\ ?
Like this:
My problem is that I don't even see the structure as you showed because the "Guest File System" section is not there at all.
Rgds, Kim
Aah okay I see the problem.
As per the docs:
Guest File System Metrics for Virtual Machines
Guest file system metrics provide information about guest file system capacity and free space.
The data for these metrics is only displayed when VMware Tools has been installed on the virtual machines. If VMware Tools is not installed, features dependent on these metrics, including capacity planning for virtual machine guest storage, will not be available.
Are you sure VMware tools are running? And also are supported for the OS/ESXi?
I have verified this earlier because I read the documentation as well. I have just verified again on a VM and VMware Tools was running and it was updated. I have several VM's running and all with the same problem.
