Geo location not working

Hi all,

I have configured vC OPS 5.7 to use geo location.

I successfully configured in vc ops google maps key, created "GEO Location" tags values & configured these tags values with the correct location.

The search location in maps popup is ok and I can save it.

But when I look at the Geographical tab in Environment Overview there is only an earth map and I can't see the location I saved.

Did I miss something ?

thkx,

vinny

Hi vinny95, be sure that you click on the blue hyperlink when selecting your location to "lock it in" - otherwise the GEO location does not save.

See example below from my post on how to configure the GEO widget - in this example I would click on the "Tiger Stadium" hyperlink before hitting the save button.  The "pin" icon in the Google map will change from the letter to a "dot" to let you know you have made that selection.  This is a common mistake because most times setting this up, people know the exact address for a datacenter so there are not multiple locations found by Google.... thus you don't think about selecting it! BEFORE SELECTING - you still need to click the blue hyperlink for the location search result you wish....

AFTER SELECTING - then click save....

is it possible to pass along a snapshot (or few), just to be sure what's the problem?

I'll try to repro that inhouse as well.

I submitted a feature request to VMware as it would be amazing to have vCenter Ops for View draw external users connecting in from the internet on a Google map in real-time.  I currently get the users public IP from the View Agent logs and geolocate them on a Google Map but its all a manual/batch process.

Hi jddias,

you were absolutely right, I did not clicked on the blue hyperlink.

Once done, it worked like a charm.

thank you & gradinka for the quick resolution,

vinny
