Datastore usage

All,

I am just starting to really dig into our VCOPS 5.0 Advanced and I am looking at changing thresholds.  We have a few datastores that will always run above say 95%.  Is there a way to set the threshold for a specific datastore that we know will always be above the threshold?

Hi markdjones82,

You may want to consider upgrading to 5.7.  As of version 5.6 VMware added the capability to create custom groups, to which you can apply policies to set things like badge thresholds more granularly.

For example you could create a custom group of your "highly utilized" datastores and apply a policy with higher thresholds for capacity and utilization.

I am reading release notes and it has some info on putting some special license key in vcenter.   We are only running 5.0 U2, do I have to have at least 1 vcenter 5.1 to use 5.7?  It seems that may be the case, but maybe if only using VIN?

Important License keys for vCenter Operations Management Suite 5.7 with vCenter Server 5.0 or 4.1
The vCenter Operations Management Suite 5.7 supports a Single Suite license key to enable functionality across all the suite components. To use this Suite license key with Operations Manager and Infrastructure navigator (VIN), you must have at least one instance of vCenter Server 5.1.

Mark, you can use vC Ops 5.7 with vCenter 5.0 U2.  In the downloads for vC Ops in your portal there is a license key that you will need to use (I think it's the last item on the downloads list).
