vrops collects stats every 5 mins by default. but my question is what is that stat
for example one 5 min stat for cpu usage is 80%. Is that what it was when it was collected or was it an average from the last collection or something
No, the CPU ready metric is a raw metric. The value displayed at that sample interval is the raw figure, similar to what something like esxtop might display.
There are such things as external metrics or properties and internal or synthesized metrics. An example of a metric collected on the 5-minute default is CPU ready (%). An example of an internally-synthesized metric is one of the oversized properties. The collection interval defines when raw data is harvested from your adapters. Things like dynamic thresholds and other internal metrics including roll-up intervals are different.
I am still not sure on the answer. so is the cpu ready that is collected every 5 mins that is displayed as say 5% is that a point in time value when it was collected or is there some manipulation done after it is collected
No, the CPU ready metric is a raw metric. The value displayed at that sample interval is the raw figure, similar to what something like esxtop might display.
Got you now thanks
