All Capacity related data stopped showing up

Hi All,

I have a strange one, About to raise a VMware case both thought I would ask here and see if anyone has some ideas.

I am running 5.7.1

Basically on the 15th of November all Capacity related data has stopped showing up. So I have no density metrics, no wasted space metrics no efficiency metrics no time remaining metrics etc.

All other metrics are available and working fine only capacity related ones are effected. So i focused my attention to the UI server and the CIQ part of vCOPS. But looking at the CIQ log it looks like it collecting the data. I did a reboot of the appliance and noticed when it first came up the log mentioned:

"last transfer time attained from vCOPS server is <Fri Nov 15 00:00>"

"Should collect data for the interval (Sun Nov 24 00:00 - Mon Nov 26 00:00)"

"Collecting data for interval (Sun Nov 24 00:00 - Mon Nov 26 00:00)"

and then it goes off doing its thing, but still no data is being displayed.

No errors in the logs everything appears to be rolling up and doing stuff, got me puzzled.

Anyone have any ideas?

Cheers

Can you go to custom UI, Select your CIQ adapter, Stop and start discovering once? Doesn't hurt to try right?

What is your disk space looking like on both of the VMs? Do you have more than 15% free on both VM /data log volumes?

What is you currently vC Ops edition? (Foundation, Advanced, etc).

Any active administrative alerts in the Advanced UI? How about the Custom UI?

Yep I gave the adapter a restart, no difference there.

Disk space on both VMs are fine about 70% used on both.

Currently running Advanced

And no, No admin alerts at all why it took a while for me to notice that it had stopped on the 15th nothing really pops out as being a problem

In the spirit of timeliness, I'd suggest opening up that VMware SR# to troubleshoot the CapIQ adapter. I'm not aware of any quick fixes for the problem you're describing and I'd suggesting moving forward with the SR# as you intended. GSS will want to dive in to your logs to determine where the capacity data isn't properly getting collected and/or analyze. I would note that with the holiday approaching, you'll want to get your SR in queue as soon as possible. Once the situation is resolved, it would be helpful if you share the findings/resolution with the community.
