Copy vmdk esxi 3.5 and load on esxi 4.1, OS for windows license need activate back??

Hi All,

I just want to know, if i copy folder of vm server from Datastore ESXi 3.5 and then upload to Datastore ESXi 4.1, I bring up the server , is it windows need to activate windows license?

I have problem for this matter.

How the best practice for add vm folder to datastore? Use Converter or just download folder vm server?

Usually this should work without activation, however it depends on your Windows license (Retail, Enterprise, ...)

You have several options. Converter is one of them. Another option - I assume it's local to local datatore - is to use the free Veeam FastSCP utility.
