Which directories in Service Console should we back up ?

We have installed BackupExec Agent in the Service Console for ESX 3.5 Host.

We would like to confirm we only need to backup the following 2 folders

1) /etc

2) /var/log

Your advice is much appreciated.

Hello,

If you are asking what will be required to recover from a system disk failure then you should back up

/

or just use the source CD/USB install with a script to build the required elements of the server (its the VM's you need to protect)

If you want to be able to perform audits after a security event then do

/var/log

/etc

if you want to be able to fix a minor config change then backup

/etc
