Question for all you gurus out there.
Running SQL 2000 in a VM. HIGH load. Previous VCB experiences resulted in total disaster. My freeze / thaw scripts included:
Freeze: net stop "MSSQLSERVER" /y
Thaw: net start "MSSQLSERVER"
Downloaded new VCB 1.5 and tried this instead:
Freeze: net pause "MSSQLSERVER"
Thaw: net continue "MSSQLSERVER"
NO PROBLEMS! VCB ran in 3 hours. Completed an image backup. Minimal impact. I ping'ed the server throughout this process. Lost 52 pings out of 13864.
Now the question:
Is net pause not recommended to use for SQL? It was fast, efficient, and friendly.
