Guest network speed

Hi,

Is there a way to reduce the speed of a guest network card running when the host is esx 3.5?

By default the guest server (once the tools are installed) will run at 1Gb. Can this be reduced to 100MB full duplex?

Thanks,

Ciaran

no I do not believe so - to throttle back network throughput you would need to set traffic shaping at the virtual switch

Thanks for answering

I did not think that there was but I though that I would ask around anyway.

The guest OS runs at the speed of the underlying host network infrastructure. When you install VMware tools, the guest will report 1Gbps regardless of what the real speed is.

There is no way to throttle the vNIC - it's going to pass traffic as quickly as it can.
