I have a dell optiplex 755 with a Intel NIC 82566 DM. When I first installed the esx 3.5 I could not setup the NIC as it was not supported. So I plugged in a supported NIC and went ahead successfully installing and using the product.
When I was browsing the forum, I believe that a lot of people have edited the ESX's 3.5 PCI database files and made an entry for the NIC 82566, by which the ESX 3.5 is now able to recognize the NIC.
I would appreciate if anyone can give me the detailed steps to do that. I would seriously like to make use of the onboard NIC.
I havent updated my ESX for a long time - so I was wondering if Vmware have added new entried to the database thru the various updates it released.
