The requirements for VCP 5 can be found here - http://mylearn.vmware.com/mgrReg/plan.cfm?plan=12457&ui=www_cert

In a nutshell you need to take a qualifying class delivered by VMware or a VMware Authorized Training Center (VATC) and pass the VCP 510 exam delivered by Pearson Vue testing services -

In addition a well rounded background (Servers, stotrage and networking) will help as well

When you take the class you will received class documentation - I believe there is a study guide for the VCP 5 that was just published and is available through Amazon - I am sorry I do not have the name - that has gotten some recommendations on this board -

Hello.

The official VMware documentation is always recommended. Also make sure to view the tools/references listed in the exam blueprint. I also have a book available on Amazon from Sybex, and there is another one coming later this year from VMware Press.

Good Luck!

That is right the VCP Blueprint - Always the first place to start because it has the topics that will be covered on teh VCP exam -

In addition to the official blueprint and documentation, Scott Lowe's book is very useful.  http://www.amazon.com/Mastering-VMware-vSphere-Scott-Lowe/dp/0470890800
