Can a git repository created from TAP Accelerator be a fork?

Hi all,

When I create a new component in Tanzu Application Platform from an Accelerator, can the git repository created be a fork of the accelerator repo?

This way if we update the accelerator, all the applications created from it, can pull the updates into their repositories.

We are using Tanzu Application Platform version 1.4
