Hi @tdubb123

Can you please share the log bundle of SHD which can be collected from Ui by Setting -> Help & Support -> Download Bundle.

We have seen two reasons for the failure

Reason 1 : Nginx RPM installation fails because of pcre dependency not met, to fix this

This is probably an older ISO based install. You can either move to new OVA based installation using migration and steps mentioned at SHD_Migration_Steps or run the following command to install the dependency manually and they try the update

  1. i)                If the appliance is able to reach to the internet, login to shell as root user and execute  tdnf install pcre
  2. ii)               If no internet connection available, manually download the rpm following RPMs and copy it over to SHD appliance. Install each using rpm -U path_to_copied_rpm in the same order
    https://packages.vmware.com/photon/3.0/photon_release_3.0_x86_64/x86_64/pcre-libs-8.42-1.ph3.x86_64....
    https://packages.vmware.com/photon/3.0/photon_release_3.0_x86_64/x86_64/pcre-8.42-1.ph3.x86_64.rpm

We do recommend performing migration using the SHD OVA as this will help in keeping the appliance updated to any security vulnerabilities and refrain from facing such issues in future.

Reason 2: OS password expired to fix this, you can login  as root user and reset the password and post that retry the patching, it should work.

Thanks and Regards,

SHD support Team
