SRM with EMC VNX 5500

Dear all,

We have two datacenters with one EMC VNX 5500 box each (active - passive configuration, synchronous replication). We have an ESXi 5 cluster with 5 hots in each datacenter.
Each VNX box houses half of all VM's. So no primary-secondary datacenters but both are equal.
All VM's are replicated from primary LUNs in their "home" datacenter to secondary LUN's in the other datacenter.
We want to setup SRM for a number (not all) VM's. Some of those VM's are in the one datacenter, some of the VM's are in the other.
Is this possible? If so, what are the best steps to take?

Many thanks in advance

Yes this is possible. Make sure the Subset of VMs that you want to protect resides in defined Luns.

If the Prtecting VMs are shared across Luns, Define a Consistancy Group for the replicated luns consist of VMs to to be Protected...

If Protecting VMs are not shared across Luns, then Just place the Protection VMs set into defined Luns and non-protectable VMs placing into other set of Luns.

Regards

What type of conection you have between the 2 data centers with how much bandwidth? We also have VNX5500 but we are also told that we need VPLEX to make active/active setup to get zero downtime. Thanks for the sharing the information.
