SRM do not perform Cloning

Hi,

i have an official SR about it, but in the meantime..

i have two Symmetrix Arrays between the sites, Solution enabler 6.5.2 is installed on the local / remote vc's and they both have access to the arrays.

after the initial setup, datastore discovery (had problems with that as well, but resolved them) and the creation of protection group / recovery plans, comes the great joy of actually pressing the BUTTON.

of course, i wanted to do the testing before, but form some reason it's not working even though i followed the best practice document from powerlink.

here's the confg of the sites, ive also attached the log files.

Hi Itzikr - Perhaps the documentation on the adapter is not as clear as it could be, but the SRDF adapter requires that the device(s) passed from the SRM to the adapter be an exact match with the devices in the Symmetrix Device Group. Otherwise, the adapter will report an error and the Recovery Plan will fail.

It seems in your case that SRM is passing R2 device 1C4B, presumably because you a have datastore on the R1 device which is the peer to 1C4B and a VM in that datastore, and that device is part of Device Group rdf_srm. However, it seems that rdf_srm has other devices in it, at least 1C7C, which was not passed by SRM, so the adapter complains and returns an error. The message is:

20081120 19:18:52 ERROR DG group device was not included in

the list of devices.

20081120 19:18:52 ERROR Could not retrieve group device

information. RC = .

Please try to modify rdf_srm to contain only device 1C4B by removing the other devices or moving them to another Device Group, and try your test again.

thanks,

whay had to be done was

the

unrelated devices needed to be in separate groups. That is a requirement for

asynchronous devices but I did not realize that was true for synchronous too.
