Moderator: VMware have many hypervisor products (ESXi/vSphere, Workstation, Fusion) - please state which one you are using including the version.
It may also help others to help you if you mentioned what version of Ubuntu, how you installed it, whether you've installed VMware Tools, whether it has ever worked or always been like this...
