VMWare Horizon Client - no mouse pointer visible at autostart on Linux

Hello together,

I haven't found a solution to my problem yet, maybe someone here can help me. I installed VMWare Horizon Client on Ubuntu and configured it as autostart via rc.local, that the client starts directly when the system is booting. So far, the client starts normally, as it should. But: although the mouse pointer is somehow there, but not visible. Other applications (e.g. Firefox) start normally in this way, without this behavior.
Does anyone have an idea why this is the case and how to solve the problem?

The environment: Tested on Ubuntu 18.04, 20.04 and 22.04; Kali Linux; Cent OS 7, 8, 9.
Tested with Horizon Client 7 + 8.
Started in the rc.local with: xinit /usr/bin/vmware-view --fullscreen

What I also noticed is that the parameter --fullscreen doesn't work in autostart mode either. When I start Horizon Client in a terminal with the same line after logging into Ubuntu, everything works fine. Even omitting the --fullscreen parameter doesn't change anything.

Thank you in advance for helpful tips.

BR,
Matthias

Hi:

Try to start it by configure the "Start Applications Preferences" in ubuntu settings.

You should use crontab,

or edit the autostart file in /etc/xdg/autostart or ~/.autostart.

or go systemd way (i'd nerver use this)
