Recommended office license

Currently our organization uses Windows E3 licenses and would like to use the Office 365 license but we found an article that it only supports ProPlus edition.

Can someone validate this information or we can stick with the current office license?

We are leaning with E3 because it has mailbox features which ProPlus don't have.

Someone out there correct me if I am wrong, but I am pretty sure ProPlus isn't a license edition of O365, it is just the name of the Office installer that you will get when you deploy Office via the Office Deployment Tookit.

Most of our VDI customers are using either Business Premium or E3 licenses.
