Confusion about PCoIP Ports in View 4.6

Hi everybody,

I am a bit confused,I don't know which ports are used with the PCoIP protocol.

I have just two connexion servers (primary and secondary), no Security Gateway, no Composer, no Transfer server.... and one pool (40 VM, provisionning is configured "on demand"). Running release 4.6

I'm connecting to my VM with View Client and type netstat -an. I see the 4172 port is being used, but can not see 50002 port.

But, when i read the documentation for View 4.6 (http://www.vmware.com/files/pdf/VMware-View4-PCoIP-IG-EN.pdf) it says that port 50002 is being used, but in the documentation (http://kb.vmware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?language=en_US&cmd=displayKC&externalId=101238...), It states that port 4172 is being used and not port 50002.

is there anyone that can clarify this information for me?

Thanks in advance,

port 4172 is for view 4.5 and above. port 50002 is used for 4.0

see also: http://kb.vmware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?language=en_US&cmd=displayKC&externalId=102676...

The document you referenced for 4.6 isn't in fact for 4.6 hence your confusion.

Always look at the appropriate documentation for the version you are running. Go to http://www.vmware.com/support/pubs/view_pubs.html and it allows you to select the View product version for documentation.

Select 4.6 and the documentation such as the Architecture and Planning guide is clear that the PCoIP ports for both TCP and UDP is 4172. It doesn't mention 50002. See http://www.vmware.com/pdf/view-46-architecture-planning.pdf

Mark.
