Can This Be Done?

I have a situation where my install of ESX Server (VmWare) is failing and will not allow me to access my vm's. Not sure I need to get into specifics as to what the issues, but rather whether or not the following solution will work.

What I'd like to do is spin ESX up on another box and use FreeNas as the storage solution. My concern is that the storage being used has already been setup as a vmfs file system and I would like to mount it un-altered, this was I can simply point ESX to it and get my systems on this storage up and running and not worry so much about data loss (relatively speaking of course)

This is a test system.

Multiple ESX servers can access the same VMFS partition on shared storage with out any issue and is how ESX works really

You shouldnt see any issues doing that, as Steve points out multiple ESX Servers using the same VMFS partition is actually how its done..
