network drives dropping out

Hi,

We have virtual machines locally installed on physical pc's which we log into which are networked to virtual domain controllers on a server. For some reason network drives that we have mapped from our local vm's to shared directories on the DC's occaisionally drop out. They usually reconnect almost instantly but when you're copying a file it can be a pain.

I cant find anything on the actual server (event logs etc) that points to a problem and done ping -t to test packet loss between the virtual DC and one of the virtual pc's and there is no packet loss.

It just occaisonally loses connectivity, drops out, and reconnects if/when you try and reopen the drive.

Any ideas at potential causes that I can look at?

Regards,

Simon

Are you using ESX on this PC?

Is it in HCL?

i'm not actually sure. I just inherited this system I didnt set it up. Worth while checking out though and will be a good starting point.

Thanks for the advice. Hopefully I'll repost and update once i've ascertained if our hardware is acceptable according to the HCL.
