file vmdk is larger than the maximum size supported by datastore

I cant svmotion a vm from one lun to another. both luns have 1mb block size and lots of space available

any idea?

This message pops up when the size of VM's VMDK file is larger than there supported by datastore.

Ex. If you have 5.1 host, maximum supported vmdk size on 5.1 is less than 2TB. If you have 5.5, you can create VM VMDK larger than 2TB.

Please let us know what version of ESXi & size of the vmdk your VM have. Also there is one gotcha around thin provisioned VMDKs.
