Why do connections to my ESXi 4 Servers frequently fail ?

Just as the topic, I have 6 blades running ESXi 4 Server and I use VIC (VMware vSphere Client) to control them. Recently, the frequent connection losts make me quite puzzled. Some times the client is unable to connect to the esxi, and when i try to login at another time, it may work, or still refuses to connect. And any heavy network load towards the ESXi Server on the blade will also leads to the connection lost.

All of the blades are in a lan within the blade center, and the network holds up a very slow load. I have checked that the two nics on any server are working under the full duplex mode and the rate is 1000M.

Thank you !

Run your hardware diagnostics. Run memtest (memtest.org) for a day or two.

I ran the test for memory and disk for about some hours a time, but nothing wrong happened.

Do you have redundancy on your management vmkernel interface?

All your NICs are in auto negotiation mode?

Make sure that both your NICs and your Switches are detecting the same network speeds.

try getting a network monitor tool on the segment that is battling to connect and see if you have something funky liek a broadcast storm or conflicting IP address, or routing loop causing this.

One day I will virtualise myself . . .
