Hello all i been having a problem for some some time now and cant find a fix for this. I have 12 VM's running on my ESXi server and only one VM is in alarm because of the memory active is pegged at 12GB. But that's is only showing in the web client but if i log in to the VM its is only using 2 to 3GB being used. I had this problem when i was using ESXi 6.0 but now i upgraded to 6.5 and i am still having a problem i did upgrade the vmware tools too. any thoughts? The OS is a windows 7 with all windows updates.
Can you provide us a screenshot with information your provided in your post, just to make sure we are talking about the same memory type?
First, take in mind that depending of the metric you're looking, the values on vCenter will differ from the guest OS task manager, see a good explanation: http://www.vnoob.com/2011/02/memory-stats-vcenter-windows/
And I'm not 100% sure, but your the fact your vSphere Web Client is showing 100% of active memory may be due the fact your are using memory reservation with 100% or your configured memory, try remove the memory reservation, reboot your virtual machine and check the the problem still occurs.
thanks for the info. i removed the memory reservation and rebooted and still no change
I'm having the same issue with no success with that fix.
could you please try with 1 cpu , 2 core and 4 GB memory
