Upgrade to Esxi host 7.0.2a, Nics i40enu are up and down like Yoyo after reboot

I used this Esxi Image: VMware-VMvisor-Installer-7.0U2a-17867351.x86_64

Hi Friends,

Please help.

We have a HA cluster running three Hosts and SAN. We just did Upgrade for one of our host from 6.5 to 7.0.2a .

Host hardware: Lenovo ThinkSystem SR650 Noticed: The nic drivers have been changed to i40enu

Right after we reboot the host several times, Nics are up and down, noticed lots packets dropping, somtimes couldn't even reach the host....

Does it mean we need to use custom ISO for Lenovo? Can we still upgrade it again on top this 7.0.2a host with this custom Image on to top what has been done: https://customerconnect.vmware.com/en/downloads/details?downloadGroup=OEM-ESXI70U2-LENOVO&productId=...?

Or do we need to update or downgrade the nic driver?

Please advise.

Thanks

ML

Have you checked the HCL for the versions and h/w you are using?  After I upgraded to the latest ESXi I got a lot of PSOD issues, which are also seemingly driver related.

I'll have to use a custom ISO with the correct drivers in my case.

Yes, the hardware is fully compatible as I checked before. Can I do another upgrade by using the custom ISO image on top of 7.0.2u ?

Thanks

Yes, you should be able to install over the top.
