Possible and safe to shrink C: vmdks in vSphere 5.5??

Hardware is version 8, server is Windows Server 2012 R2 with all current MS updates.

Have two VMs thin provisioned at 80 GB which is too big and we must be quite careful with storage usage...

These are both domain controllers and AD and DNS and DHCP etc.

Is it possible and safe to shrink them to say 60 GB apiece??
They only use 10-20 GB on disk (provisioned).

Is the procedure documented somewhere or should I have VMware support help me with this??
Yes, I can make backups beforehand...

Thank you, Tom

It is supported. Refer the below article

Take a backup before you do anything.

If its Thin provisioned, do you really need to shrink it? As they are Thin provisioned, shrinking disk to 60 GB, wont be much difference in the storage space as these are Thin provisioned.
