Memory capacity only 519MB but host have 2GB installed

Hey

I have install ESXi 4.0 on a DELL Vostro 200, installed with 2 GB of ram.

When I have started the host and not started any guests, I only can allocate 519 MB of memory for any guests.

It looks like, that i had about 1600 mb for virtual machines, when i look in the configuration. Have i done anything wrong?

Can anybody tell me why?

ESXi 4 requires 2GB for itself only, so either install more memory or install ESXi 3.5

You can tweak the vmkernel to free up some more memory for VMs - http://www.vm-help.com/esx40i/memory_allocation.php.
