Hardware Status Tab not updating.

Hi all, hoping someone can help.

I have a Vcenter Server Sat on a Windows 2008 box every so often when i go to look at the hardware status tab i get a message saying

'Hardware Monitoring Service is not responding, the host is not connected.'

All my firewalls are configured to allow CIM Services through.

The only way i have found to get around this is to remove the host from the server and readd it again but this has not worked tonight, i simply get 'updating hardware data...' nothing more.

i have tried resetting sensors but just get the same message.

My hardware status has worked in the past and i have had alerts etc all set up and working but all of a sudden it has stopped working on all three hosts.

No doubt it will be working again in the morning but this is frustrating to say the least.

All hosts are running ESXi and the VCenter and VSphere versions are both 5.0.

Anyone?

This is still an issue.

I have tried:

Restarting Hosts

Resetting inventory DB

Disable/re-enable hardware monitoring Plug in.

Remove and readd the hosts the the Vcenter.

Just incase any else comes across this the answer is:

1- Stop vCenter inventory service

2- Rename Data to Data.old in C:\Program Files\VMware\Infrastructure\Inventory Service\data

3- Open CMD and CD to C:\Program Files\VMware\Infrastructure\Inventory Service\scripts, run createDB.bat

4- Then run register.bat with your servername. e.g. register.bat %Vcenter Server Name%.domain.com 443 This has to be the FQDN of your VCenter Sever.

5- Start vCenter inventory service.

6- Restart VMWare VirtualCenter Service.
