Trying to install VSpere Hypervisor.
I am using a DELL Studio XPS with Intel i7 940 CPU with 18gb memory and 8 processors (desktop system).
I have created an ESXi boot dvd from the downloaded ISO.
When I boot from the DVD, the ESXi starts the boot process and then it hangs at:
Relocating modules and starting up the kernel...
I've read about this and found that when starting the boot process do a shift+0 and append the boot option ignoreHeadless=TRUE (Dell CS24 ESXi 5.5 Install Stuck "Relocating modules and starting up the kernel..." | RobWillis.info). I continue to get the error.
Should I not be installing on a dell desktop system, install on a server?
Regards
Rich
Before installing ESXi, you should check your hardware compatibility with vSphere.

Davoud,
Thank you.
The question I should ask is what VM product could I use for my desktop to turn it into a virtual machine? (e.g. Workstation Pro?)
If there is a product, is there a hardware compatibility?
