Interesting I haven't found dpvmotion mentioned in any of the 4.1 docs I have looked at. Even a search of VMWare's website and google come up blank.
I am pretty sure the "d" is for Desktop and the feture is cough NDA untill View 4.5 comes out. Almost postive this has to do with VDI.
could be the remote VMotion too. what is dvfilter ??
Nothing new in this thread?
dvfilter is vNetwork Appliance API, probably when it was developed, the shorthand was "dvfilter".
Regarding dpvmotion, my stab at it is probably distributed portgroup vMotion ...

Linjo ... Thanks for the clarification!
Have any links where I can get more info on how it works?
Hello,
thank you. Please can you explain more specifically what does Direct Path vMotion mean?
I guess it means vmDirect Path I/O can be vMotioned.

Hi,
so in other words 4.1 now supports vMotion for VM DirectPath I/O VMs? I cant find this inRelease Notes! Hmmm. Any thoughts?
I'm with Ferdis ...
In the ESXi Configuration Guide for version 4.1 ... page 62 states that VMotion is unavailable for virtual machines configured with VMDirectPath.
However with previous versions of ESX, they are know to throw things in that are officially unsupported. If this is the case and it is on the roadmap then that would eliminate my need for USB over IP.
Not bad but I still would like to know more.
Hello,
bad link...

So, if I am reading this right dpvmotion will allow the vMotion of VM's in a Microsoft cluster? I will have to see it to believe it. haha
