Connecting a VM to a tape drive - how?

I need to connect a tape drive to a physical ESXi4 host, then have one of my VMs connect to and use that tape drive, for backup purposes. What is the best way to do this?

Thanks,

Joe

Hi,

You need to pass through under the settings of the VM that needs the hardware. You assign scsi devices to the VM but this does mean the VM can be migrated from that machine so remember to change your HA and DRS settings for that one VM.

You also need to configure a device used for path through on the ESX host via the vSphere client.
