Hello,
I hope this is not a FAQ. I am running a server VM that uses a 4TB Nvme SSD via passthrough (RDM). For some reason or another the VM will start reindexing the SSD contents upon every reboot. This takes a day or so to complete and also puts unnecessary wear on the SSD. I wonder if I could suspend the VM instead of shutdown if I need to reboot ESXI. Could this cause a problem of SSD not being in sync with the VM?
Thanks in advance for ny help,
-Heinrich
Theoretically, you can suspend your VM. But how it looks/ will look in practice is hard to say. I mean that the workload of the RDM Disk will be significantly increased.
And also question is - is it a local SSD from the ESXi host or from SAN?

You mean, by reindexing?
The disk is local on PCIe bus.
