Adding physical CPUs to ESXi Host

I have a ESXi host which has already been installed and configured, and there are instances running on it. Now I plan to add additional cpu to this host.

As far as I know, the PCI number of physical NIC (maybe other device too) will be changed after adding physical cpus. As a result, the management ip may be configured onto wrong NIC after rebooting the host, and the ESXi will be disconnected from vCenter.

I am wondering if the problem exists on ESXi 6.0, thanks in advance for your help.

Hi leiqzhang and welcome to the community Smiley Happy

Apart from making sure you have a good recovery point for your VM's in case something goes wrong, there should not be anything else required. As far as I've experienced, adding another pCPU has not renumbered the PCI slots or the like causing the network cards to loss their place within ESXi.

Kind regards.
