any idea how i can clean up some space on /storage/db

If this is vROps, you don't or else you break the system. Deploy a new appliance and reduce the scope of vROps' collection or the metrics enabled in the policy.
I set my Additional Time Series Retention to 0 month in the global settings as i dont need any other data passed 6 month. this reduced my database by almost half
