Dear VMware members:
I have checked the vcloud-automation-center-60-support-matrix.pdf and found the CentOS 6.4
is in the Guest Operating Systems support list as below:
Supported Guest OS Guest Agent Customization Support
CentOS 6.4 Yes
But when I deployed VM guest running CentOS 6.4, it always got the following error messages
after viewing request status details:
Request Failed: Machine lab-vcac-009: CustomizeVM : [CustomizeVM_Task] - Customization of the guest operating system 'centos64Guest' is not supported in this configuration. Microsoft Vista (TM) and Linux guests with Logical Volume Manager are supported only for recent ESX host and VMware Tools versions. Refer to vCenter documentation for supported configurations.
The VMware Tools and Linux guest agent are bothed installed and configured successfully, and
more strange thing is that under the same environment for the RHEL 6.4 VM deployment is
successful.
I don't know how to figure out the solution, and what's wrong with it?
Your reply is highly appreciated.
Best Regards
Danny
Hello Grant::
"Deploy your CentOS template in vCenter as OS Type - Linux > Red Hat" is workable.
Thanks! :smileylaugh:

This is happening because vCenter does not support CentOS customization through customization script even though vCAC supports it.
There are some workarounds to get this working but i would suggest you open a ticket with VMware and get an official answer if its a production environment.
Hello Abhilash:
This is my testing environment, may I know the workarounds to test before I
open a ticket with VMware and get an official answer?
Thanks a lot in advance.

Deploy your CentOS template in vCenter as OS Type - Linux > Red Hat and you will get the customisation capabilities.
