VRealize Automation 7.0 Initial Request Setup

Dear All,

I am new to vmware cloud. By studying the Rainpole scenario that is published along the documentation of VRA 7.0 i managed to to the initial install of the appliance and everything went fine.

When the part came of the VSphere initial setup request i was not able to work it out.

In the Rainpole scenario they say that Endpoint name is supposed to be the same as setup during the installation ( so this is fine ). Then they say that the endpoint host is the IAAS server. Now when i enter that, the Workflow fails saying that the Vcenter server (IAAS) ( Validation of connection to vCenter server [vriaas.nawasi.com.kw] failed.)

Kindly, can any one tell me what could be the problem. I have the vCloud Enterprise license.

Nabster,

I'm afraid we are getting in over my head now. The only things I can suggest to check are:

1) The endpoint name you provided to the installation has to exactly match the name you provide during setup (and I think you mentioned you knew this)

2) Account privileges for the credentials you provided for managing vSphere:  Scenario: Create vSphere Credentials for Rainpole (and if during vRA installation, you configured the vSphere agent to have "integrated" credentials - double check if you provided these same credentials then)

3) Username/password - just double check it's the one with sufficient credentials and password entered correctly

4) Port requirements (in particular 443 should be open on vSphere machine) vRealize Automation Port Requirements

Richardson,

Nabster is using the Initial Setup catalog item to configure his endpoint - it's a little different than configuring traditionally through infrastructure > endpoints. (See attached)

For Endpoint Host you should enter the FQDN of your vCenter Server. I will update the doc with this correction.

So you're confused about create your endpoint ? If you endpoint will be a vCenter server, just take a look at the following link: http://theithollow.com/2016/01/18/vrealize-automation-7-endpoints/

Remember that the vCenter agent is installed on your IAAS server, but when creating a vCenter endpoint you should point to address of your vCenter server, not the IAAS server.

I tried with the vcenter FQDN also, but still it is failing saying (NO compute resources found). Even though i have a template of Windows 2012 r2. The vcenter name in my lab is (vc6-linux.test.local). If i check the logs in the VRO they keep on saying waiting to discover the computer resource and after 10 mints it fails. The Vcenter in my lab is the vc6 appliance.

Please let me know if there is any limitation with that. ??

Any chance you attach the screen with endpoint configuration ? Something like this: http://theithollow.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/vra7-endpoints3.png
