There haven't been any deadlines on when Persona Management will go away that I have seen, though you are correct that is the expectation.

We've seen positive success with UEM, and several of our customers have migrated to it. VMware KB 2118056 goes through the different scenarios and migration paths.

The big thing to keep in mind is that while Persona Management automatically captures all application settings, UEM requires profiling the applications to determine what settings to keep. Here's a good blog on that process: VMware User Environment Manager and Application Profile Settings.

Where in the 3.0 Console is this located? It's definitely not easily visible, if it's there. Selecting just one app in an appstack selects all apps in that appstack, and de-selecting them de-selects all, so it's not an built-in, invisible feature either.

This would need to be set in the Default User profile, which is why it's not propagating to the users. Modify it via there and it should stick as their profiles are created; alternatively, set it as a GPO.

The Windows 7 OS Optimization fling may help you with this: VMware OS Optimization Tool &#8211; VMware Labs

Also, if you check out the properties of the shortcut created, you will get the URI to open that application. You can then use that to create shortcuts or links for others. It will essentially launch the View client and send them to the application.

For example, the URI for my Command Prompt shortcut is: vmware-view://vcs6.eeg3.lab/cn=command_prompt,ou=applications,dc=vdi,dc=vmware,dc=int
