We are running ESX 3.5.0 . We have two host in a cluster and recently we have been getting "Host is not responding" message under Tasks and Events in VI client. After "Host is not responding" all Virtual machines get disconnected . Following are the messages

(a) Host is not responding

(b) Disconnect message for all virtual machines

(c) Alarm host connection state on ESX host changed from Green to Red

(d) Alarm host CPU isage on ESX host changed from Green to Grey

(e) Alarm host memory usage on ESX host Changed from Green to Grey

and eventually the connection gets established and all VMs get connected. Can anybody help me to troubleshoot the above?

Thanks

Set up Tape Drive (Overland 2000E)

We are running ESX 3.5 that has a Windows Server 2003 as a virtual machine. We are trying to set up a new Tape Library (Overland NEO 2000E) on Windows 2003.The Tape library has two Tape Drives and 1 medium changer. Its a multi-LUN device and the SCSI set up is as follows

Tape Drive 1 : SCSI ID :1 LUN :smileyshocked:

Tape Library: SCSI ID :1 LUN :1

Tape Drive2 : SCSI ID: 2 LUN :smileyshocked:

When we hook up the device to the ESX host it detects the two drives and the library as above. However, when we try to attach the SCSI devices to the virtual machine by going into settings, we are unable to do so as it does not let us use the same SCSI ID ( ID 1) to the tape library once its already assigned to the tape drive 1.

Is there a workaround for this ? Please help

Thanks,

Abhi
