least you can be some help and tell me where the log file is stored so i can show whats going on I cant wait on another man or women to fix something that simple of a problem i fix it myself OKAY

how sure are you that im the only one having the issue go on github /open-vm-tools/issues/587

theres a whole page of issues the EXACT same issue since 2020 I know 100% its been years that this issue persists to this day

there has been forums here that been UNANSWERED for years

no its on mate and lxde they dont have wayland if it was on wayland i wouldnt get any input nor error it just wouldnt do anything

Hey everyone I have installed VMWARE Workstation 17.0.2 and 17.0.5

I have been having issues with the Clipboard sharing when it comes to file sharing

I have installed open-vm-tools latest version

typed in sudo apt install open-vm-tools-desktop

it installed but it didnt work I Installed it again

still didnt work

ADDED NON FREE REPOSITORY

typed in sudo apt install open-vm-tools-desktop/bookworm-backports 12.30 version of open-vm-tools

doesnt work still

I dont want to use any third party sharing for files OR shared folders

Anyone have an idea on whats causing it?

Host kernal is 6.1.0-13

I even went back and tried 5.10.26 did not work

I saw on github that it was gonna be fixed on the current release 17.0.5 but i heard this issue hasnt been resolved since 2020. Is it the kernal settings or the host modules vmmon vmnet causing the issue or a permission issue to diagnose the issue where is the log file located

im having the same issue on linux host has anyone fixed it the new version 17.5.0 is what im using reinstalling open-vm-tools DID NOT WORK the new version came out this month or last month

Hey im having the same issue on 17.5.0 has anyone fixed it its 2023 people been giving me rubbish answers like reinstalling open-vm-tools i really need this fixed this isnt rocket science but the people in charge of this been stalling on this for 2 years i seen a post from 2020 that old of a post they had time to fix this and they didnt and 17.5 came out this month or last month and to be frank with all of you this nonsense

Hey everyone I am on VMWARE 17.0.2 build-21581411

GUEST MACHINE (DEBIAN) | HOST (DEBIAN)

I'm having issues with guest machine open-vm-tools | open-vm-tools-desktop

I type in
sudo apt-get install open-vm-tools && open-vm-tools-desktop

BUT IT INSTALLS 12.2 VERSION NUMBER

I have issues with clipboard/drag drop/copy paste

but to update open-vm-tools

I type in from
sudo apt-get install open-vm-tools && open-vm-tools-desktop/bookworm-backports [ALTERNATE REPOSITORY]

IT INSTALLS 12.3.0 VERSION NUMBER

issues with clipboard/drag drop/copy paste is SEMI FIXED (ALL LINUX GUESTS)
I CANT COPY ANY FILES OR DIRECTORIES/FOLDERS {TEXT CAN BE COPIED}

HOWEVER THE STRANGE THING IS

IS THAT ON A WINDOWS (10,11) GUEST MACHINE IS THAT {I CAN COPY ANY FILES I CAN COPY TEXT}
I MEAN ANY FILES BUT I CANT COPY DIRECTORIES/FOLDERS
