Hello,

I have a question, is it advisable to modify the powershell powercli function --> update-vmfsdatastore ?

We want to migrate the vmfs disk file which contains within the same cluster and upgrade it to vmfs 6, the order of the upgrade would be

1st datastore will be a temporary

2nd datastore will be the datastore1 --> I will be moving the vmfs 5 disk file to temporarydatastore, when datastore1 becomes empty then I want to upgrade to vmfs 6 using powershell powercli. So in total I want to upgrade 10 datastores.

Is it advisable to make changes to the existing powercli Update-vmfsDatastore function?

For more clarity, I can share the existing powershell script

Hello,

I have encountered a new issue while running this cmdlet "Get-vSanView".

The error messages are :

1.) Core_BaseCmdlet_UnknownError, VMware.Vimautomation.Storage.Commands.Cmdlets.Vsan.GetVsanView.

2.) Vsan_GetVsanView_WriteNotFoundError, VMware.Vimautomation.Storage.Commands.Cmdlets.Vsan.GetVsanView.

Versions:
1. vCenter - v7

2. PowerCLI - v12.70

We upgraded the module to the latest version since it threw the same error message from above in the "PowerCLI v11"

We can connect to the vCenter without any problem, but errors out when we want vSan health check. We tried to connect to different vCenters to check if that's a problem but no luck.

We can see the cmdlets loaded into the PowerShell ISE (attached screenshots). Not sure what is that we are missing out here. Should I check anything at the vCenter level? or if something that is blocking it?

Kindly help.

Thanks in advance.

Hello.

Need some help SRM Protected VM.

I came across multiple articles in the forum - I couldn't find the exact match or closest one to resolve my reporting issue. So, I have developed the script but the output is different from what I'm looking for, it would be great help if I find the solution.

Expected: I'm looking to get the protection status of the SRM protected VM which is within the protection group (Attached and Highlighted screengrab)

As seen in the web-client: Under Protection Status we would see these status(s) like - "OK", "Not configured", "Replication warning". So I'm looking to get Protection Status as an output in my report.

Could you please help me on how to proceed further with this, what parameter or cmdlet that needs to be in-place within the script.

Looking forward for to your help, Thank you.

Do we have any way/cmdlets to get the information about the network interface of the linux VM? without logging into the VM after converting it from template to VM.

Because right now my script works but I was successful only after logging into the VM and manually finding the network interface (ens199).

Kindly help. Wanted to seek some help with code, since I'm the beginner and would like to get some help from you..

Here is the block of code which I was trying to figure out, but I'm not sure if this will fetch the vPartition (details of partitions within VM's like c drive, d drive etc..) of all the VMs:

$ValeCMReport = Get-VM | Select-Object
@{N=’Name’;E={$_.name}},
@{N=”Disk”;E={$_.DiskType}},
@{N=”Disk Capacity (in GB)”;E={$_.CapacityGB}},
@{N=”Disk Utilized (in GB)”;E={[math]::round(($_.CapacityGB))}},
@{N="Disk Consumed(in GB)";E={($_.CapacityGB -$_.FreeSpace)}},
@{N="Disk Free (in GB)";E={[math]::round($_.FreeSpace/1GB, 0)}},
@{N="Disk Free (in %)";E={[math]::Format("$_.FreeSpace {0:P2}" -f ($_.FreeSpace / $_.Size))}}

I was trying to export vPartition with these filters: (attached image)

Requirement will be that I want to export the vPartition details of all the VM's from a vCenter, it will be great help. Thank you in advance, Sir.
