Q: why does vcenter sendmail fail?

I would like to receive some alerts by email but it does not work. There seem to be several possible root causes, but I don't understand where exactly it faisl and what I need to fix to get it to work.
Re: ghettoVCB error in backing up VMDK

Additional information:

None of the VMs I tried to backup had snapshot, and no snapshot consolidation was possible nor necessary.

The debug option of ghettoVCB does not provide additional information on the cause of the error.

I modified the ghettovcb.sh script to use -v10 foll verbose logging for vmkfstools and ran several backups for different VMs. The result is that there is NO difference in the log messages between the backups that ran successfully and those that ended with the described error.

Also playing with various options of ghettovcb did not help.

When doing a backup run from some VMDKs I get this:

Clone: 100% done.
2023-07-19 17:10:46 -- info: ERROR: error in backing up of "/vmfs/volumes/.......vmdk" for .....

This is already with -d debug, so I guess it is hard to know what went wrong in detail...

Does anyone here got an idea how to proceed to know more details what is going wrong? Or someone even knows what the problem might be?

How to configure Teleport App service for vCenter web UI?

I would like to access the web UI of vCenter through Teleport (goteleport.com). I always get "[400] An error occurred while sending an authentication request to the vCenter Single Sign-On server - An error occurred when processing metadata during vCenter Single Sign-On setup: the service provider validation failed. Verify that the server URL is correct and is in FQDN format, or that the hostname is a trusted service provider alias." when trying to access.

If someone got that to work I would be happy to see the configuration for Teleport. This is what I have now:

<LI-CODE lang="markup">- name: "vcenter"
    insecure_skip_verify: true
    uri: "https://vcenter.ex.com"
    rewrite:
      redirect:
      - vcenter.ex.com
      headers:
      - "Origin: https://vcenter.teleport.ex.com"
      - "Host: vcenter.teleport.ex.com"</LI-CODE>
